Since I did not have much to do in the Christmas holiday, my aunt suggested going to Taiwan/Thailand together.
At last, we booked Eva Airways ($1616, tax included), Go Sleep Hotel (Hankou) (Ximen station), ezBookers (Zhongixa fuxing station) and Hua Yue Hotel (Taoyuan station).
The reason why we booked 3 hotels for a five-day trip is simple: the whole thing was such an improvisation that all hotels were full by the time we booked them!
(and we would like to visit Taoyuan as well yeah)
Okay, let's keep it short!
After around 1 hour and a half, we finally arrived Taoyuan Airport.
(The seats were comfortable and there was a wide variety of movies on the plane. Yet, the meal provided was really not so nice...)

We took a Free Go Bus to the city centre and we had to change to another bus on the way. Don't ask me why because I was sleeping like crazy on the bus, haha.
For the price...it should be around NT$140, which is about HKD$40 something. (The currency rate was 3.63. By the way, it's cheaper to exchange the currency in the airport because you gotta pay NT$100 surcharge if you have it done in a bank.)

Go Sleep Hotel (Hankou)
Haha, this is how our room looks like.
Get off at Xiemen station and the hotel is easy to find. The price is reasonable. (I forget how much because my aunt paid for me.)
It's neat and tidy. Basically there's nothing to complain about; if I have to come up with something not so nice, that probably would be that the air-conditioning was too strong.
As the time for checking in was 3 in the afternoon, we started our trip after settling our luggages and went to Tamsui and Shilin Night Market.

We met Tenren while we were on the way to the Ximen station! (Bubble tea is my favourite and I love it soooo much!)
Tenren, which was founded in 1953, is quite famous in Taiwan. Nowadays, you can also find it in the Eslite in Hong Kong.
To make its brand appealing to the youngsters, the shop started to sell bubble tea and such like.
What I ordered is iced bubble tea (Discounted price NT$50) but I felt that it's just so-so. The taste was a bit too bland for me.

Do remember that it is forbidden to eat or drink in the MRT, not even chewing gum!
So before you take a ride, you better finish your delicious snacks first!
I chose to loiter in Ximending for a while and wow, the delicious noodles is now available in Taiwan!

It is easy to go Tamsui: take the Tamshui line in Taipei station and the final destination is Tamsui.
When you go outside, you will see the pier where many food stalls can be found.
This cake with red bean filling is hot and full, even if I dislike red beans, I found it good.

Then here comes the stinky tofu. You can have it with kimchi but it is not very impressive.
Again, the taste was just so-so.

The almond powder smelt good but the taste was not so inviting.

This shop sells many "nostalgic" snacks.
By the way, many shops in Taiwan sell wooden postcards, which costs around NT$80 each,
but here in Tamsui Old Street, there is a shop which sells a postcard for NT$50 only!
Plus the staff is with good attitude; you can buy stamps there and ask the staff to mail the postcards for you.
I bought 3 postcards (shown below) and 5 stamps (because I sent 2 to the UK) there and it costed NT$210 in total.

The following is about what the travel guide recommends.
Walking along the Tamsui Old Street, you will see this shop.
Two kinds of eggs are available; for each pack, it costs NT$100.
Turn to the alley next to the shop and you will see other 2 recommended shops.

Since we were pretty full, we only ordered the fishball soup. (According to the travel guide, the fishballs are made of sharks?!)
Well...to me it tasted like those balls we eat while having hot pot so I won't say it is speical.
Still, you can try "AhCup" (I made this name up), which is made of tofu because from what I observed, quite many people ordered the dish.

I strongly recommend this shop!
With NT$50, not only can you get the ice cream, you can also see how humorous the shop owner is!
After paying, he will start playing with the ice cream. It was really funny!
And it is surprising that the texture of the ice cream was good; it was very chewy.
Even if you turn it upside down, the ice cream will not fall!
Remember to invite your friend to take a video for you!

Aletheia University; good environment.
Let's read a quote about the university from Wikipedia:
Aletheia University (after Greek ἀλήθεια, ‘truth’) is a university founded by George Leslie Mackay as the Tamsui Oxford (University) College. It has close links to the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, and is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Taiwan.

Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf.Indeed, we walked from the station to the wharf. lol
The joruney was so long (of course!) that whenever we asked for guidance, the locals were amazed and said that it took a long time to reach the wharf.
So...if you do not wish to walk (there isn't much to see along the way anyway), take the bus No.26.

Lover Bridge of Tamsui. The name was derived from the starting date of the bridge.
Actually there were only a few people; it's kinda suitable for couples.
At the other end of the bridge, there is a really fantastic installation. Like the bridge, it changes colors from time to time.

Get off at Jiantan Station and you will see signs directing you to Shilin Night Market. We first went to the underground gourmet market and ordered one oyster omelette and one rice vermicelli with oysters in soup.I like the texture of the omelette! The oysters in the vermicelli were really fresh as well.

This fried milk is really delicious!
It claims that it is using real fresh milk~

Well this is not the famous authentic shop =_= felt that we got fooled.
Anyway, the authentic one is located outdoors so pay attention!
This chicken fried steak was actually quite good; but its skin was as hard as biscuits.

After eating so many oily food, it's good to have this drink, which cotains aiyu jelly (which is healthy).
To end the day, we also ate a milk ice with mango. (so tired that I don't really bother coming up with a good name)
*weep* the ice was not really made of milk so it tasted like milk powder.
And the quality of the mango was not good enough. Somehow it's like it's too icy.
Too long an entry but I haven't known how to grip the gist yet. Keep going!
